Affinity Water gives Kent Young Carers a fun filled weekend

Kent Young Carers, a charity based in Tunbridge Wells in Kent has received a donation of £2,460 thanks to Affinity Water’s Community Engagement Programme.

As part of the Imago Community charity, Kent Young Carers offers a range of support services for children aged 5-18, caring for a family member due to illness, disability, drug or alcohol abuse or a mental health issue. The charity gives young carers the opportunity to take a break from their everyday responsibilities and socialise with people of their own age who are facing the same challenges.

With the money donated, over 64 carers will be able to take part in the Kent Young Carers Festival at Bowles Outdoor Centre, where they will have the chance to join in some activities such as rock climbing, zip-wire, kayaking and team building exercises.

Liz Mohr, Kent Young Carers Locality manager for East said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this generous donation from Affinity Water. We rely on donations to deliver respite activities and this funding will allow for a much needed break and some time out for the amazing young carers, who do such a fantastic job supporting their families. From everyone at Imago Kent young carers I would like to say thank you so much.”

Adam Warner, Chair of the Community Review panel said: “We are pleased to have the chance to support Kent Young Carers, Tunbridge Wells. Affinity Water is a community-focused organisation serving local people and we want to be involved in projects which benefit the communities we serve."
