Affinity Water gives FUN a helping hand

Families United Network (FUN), a small charity based in Luton has received a funding boost of £2,340 thanks to Affinity Water’s Community Engagement Programme.

Families United Network is an activity centre for people with disabilities and their families, Families United Network offers support to children, young adults and their families with respite care and short breaks throughout Bedfordshire. During the year, the charity runs holiday clubs, Saturday clubs and opportunity play for 0-5 year olds.

With the money donated, the group is aiming to run swimming lessons at a hydrotherapy pool. Families United Network often uses hydrotherapy pools as part of a therapeutic activity for their members. The local Hydrotherapy pool is more suitable than mainstream pools as it offers water fountains, music and lights for sensory issues and the temperature of the water is much warmer helping users with mobility problems.

Laura Smythe, Community and Corporate Fundraiser for Families United Network said: “Many of our families will benefit from your Affinity Water’s Community Engagement Programme, thank you for supporting Families United Network, and helping us improve the lives of families living with disabilities.”

Adam Warner, Chair of the Community Review panel said: “We are pleased to have the chance to support Families United Network. Affinity Water is a community-focused organisation serving local people and we want to be involved in projects which benefit the communities we serve.”
