Affinity Water gives a helping hand to Hertfordshire Independent Living Service

Hertfordshire Independent Living Service (HILS) has received a donation of £2,790 thanks to Affinity Water’s Community Engagement programme.

Hertfordshire Independent Living Service provides elderly people with a meals on wheels service.

With the money donated, Hertfordshire Independent Living Service will be able to provide hydration packs to help support needs and health risks relating to dehydration in older people who are living in the community.

HILS Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Wren said: “This is absolutely amazing and much appreciated. We are so grateful to Affinity Water for their generous donation and for taking the time to visit HILS. This grant will help us to support older and vulnerable people to stay healthy, happy, and independent at home. It can be difficult for our clients to remember to drink enough, risking dehydration. The funds will be used to encourage our clients to stay hydrated, providing water jugs for all who join our service. Our teams can then fill these up when delivering our meals on wheels, acting as a friendly reminder for our clients to drink more.”

Bev Taylor, Chair of the Community Review panel said: “We are pleased to have the chance to support Hertfordshire Independent Living Service. Affinity Water is a community-focused organisation serving local people and we want to be involved in projects which benefit the communities we serve.”
