Volunteers remove 49 bags of rubbish from River Dour

Volunteers from Affinity Water and the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership joined forces on Friday 2 September for one of their regular River Dour clean-up days.

Donning waders and gloves, the team of environmentally conscious helpers cleared litter and rubbish which had accumulated in the river, which runs through the centre of Dover. In total, an astounding 49 bags were filled with rubbish from the river!

Affinity Water Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Beverley Taylor commented: “We are delighted that we had another opportunity to work with the White Cliff Countryside Partnership (WCCP) as part of a joint effort to clean up the River Dour. We work closely with the WCCP to organise volunteering days for our team members and are honoured to be a part of projects that benefit the local environment and the community.”

The White Cliffs Countryside Partnership was set up to help conserve and enhance the special coast and countryside of Dover and Shepway districts, and make it accessible to all. The partnership organises regular River Dour clean up days from April to October as well as many other events which benefit the local environment in the area.
